Holy Grill and the Interfaith Federation of Greater Baton Rouge
Sponsor Free Health and Plant Fair on Thursday, March 23;
North Baton Rouge Event Open to Community
Holy Grill Health and Plant Fair, a free event sponsored by the Interfaith Federation of Greater Baton Rouge (IFGBR), will be held at 6117 Cadillac Street in Zion City on Thursday, March 23, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is free and open to anyone in the community. Children are encouraged to attend.
The fair will offer free health screenings and immunizations, tastings, healthy eating and cooking videos, seed and plant giveaways, container gardening demonstrations, handouts, and registration for free smoking cessation classes. A free lunch will be provided and numerous resources on healthy eating and gardening will be available.
Participating organizations are LSU Agriculture and Food Science; LSU Extension Services; Southern University Agriculture and Food Nutrition; Southern University Extension Services, Ochsner North Outreach team with the Southern University School of Nursing, Geaux Get Healthy/Healthy BR, Pennington Biomedical Research Center, Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation, O’Brien House, Charles Kelly Center, and mary bird Perkins Cancer Center.
The Interfaith Federation of Greater Baton Rouge has sponsored the Holy Grill for over 30 years and has served the hungry in Zion City and neighboring communities since 1987. Holy Grill lunch meals are offered free on weekdays in the BREC Cadillac Recreation Center. Volunteers from area interfaith communities serve meals prepared by IFGBR.
