Strategy 1: Deepen and broaden our capacity to communicate with faith communities, partner agencies, and the Baton Rouge community—to better respond to human need.

Strategy 2: Deepen and broaden our capacity to coordinate with faith communities who desire to collaborate with each other.

Strategy 3: Deepen and broaden the cultivation of peace by creating a peace center which teaches peace to the next generation, breaking the cycle of violence.

Baton Rouge sits in the Bible Belt of the United States with over 600 diverse faith communities—including Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim, Baha’i, Catholic, Protestant and others. To understand Baton Rouge is to recognize the importance of faith in the life of its people. Not all cities in the United States can make this claim, but Baton Rouge is a deeply faith-based community—one shaped by faith. But there is more to the story.

Baton Rouge faces significant challenges—COVID-19, poverty, racial tension, violence, inequity in education and health services as well as others. It is understandable why so many look to local faith leaders and their communities to lead the charge and plea—do something!

The Interfaith Federation is positioned to serve as a catalyst for communication, coordination, and collaboration among the local faith community and in partnership with others to address human suffering in Greater Baton Rouge.

Our vision is to deepen and broaden our reach by connecting people of goodwill and compassion in order to improve the quality of life for our neighbor in need. We are ready to leverage our community-wide connections to bring positive change to Baton Rouge.

Excellence & Inspiration:  Our Annual Community Prayer Breakfast and Annual Sounds of CommUNITY concert inspires, encourages, and invites people to expand their understanding of our community. Our programs are known for excellence.

Holy Grill Feeding Program in Zion City since 1987:  Through the Holy Grill, the Interfatih Federation feeds hot lunches to the hungry Monday through Friday, offers emotional support and promotes healthy lifestyles. Over 20 congregations volunteer and serve the food which is prepared by Holy Grill Coordinator Tonia Causey. She has been with Holy Grill for over 31 years!

Community-Wide Connections: We have a history of connecting diverse people of faith and goodwill, bearing witness that love is stronger than hate.

Innovation and Creativity: Our original, commissioned choral work Waging Peace and its curriculum is just one example of how we use creative and innovative means to teach peace. We invite people to listen, discover and re-discover our shared humanity. We strive for transformed and changed hearts, attitudes, and behavior.

Executive Director Longevity and Knowledge of Baton Rouge: Founder Rev. Jeff Day served for 20 years as Executive Director of Greater Baton Rouge Federation of Churches and Synagogues.
