Brandon Chastang, a motivational speaker, anti-violence activist and newly-published author, will visit Baton Rouge on September 8, 2023. Chastang, popularly known as “BMCFLY,” will share his own stories of how he has overcome drug addiction and a violent childhood, becoming a voice for positivity and change in his community.
The 41-year-old Philadelphia native has captured national attention with his empowering message that “Being Motivated Comes From Loving Yourself.” While in Baton Rouge, Chastang will visit local schools to speak and share readings from his book, Anybody Can Be MCFLY.
The culmination of his visit will be a community-wide literacy fair for all ages called “READING IS POWER,” sponsored by the office of District 5 Councilman Darryl Hurst and the Holy Grill program of the Interfaith Federation of Greater Baton Rouge. The fair will feature a book giveaway and a message from Chastang, whose book will be featured at the event.
This free public event will begin at 4:30 pm on Friday, September 8 and will be held at the Charles Kelly Community Center (3535 Riley Street).
